The making of
Vonetta E. Taylor walks at the intersection of ancient practice and emerging futures — where ceremony meets structure, where ancestral memory meets inquiry, and where wisdom becomes responsibility.
This integration was not accidental. It was forged.
Vonetta graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Cultural Anthropology, where rigorous training in ethnographic methodology and systems thinking deepened her understanding of how belief, power, and cosmology shape human life across cultures.
Trained to study culture, she stepped into shaping it. She began her career in advertising, guiding creative teams and shaping cultural narratives within high-performance environments. Her work in visual storytelling earned multiple awards, including an Emmy.
Here, she learned how ideas move culture. How teams function under pressure. How structure supports creativity. And how belonging is built — or fractured — inside institutions.
Her path led to 25 years of disciplined spiritual practice and ceremonial apprenticeship. Under the guidance of a teacher from Peru whose roots trace back to the Brazilian Amazon — one of the oldest living streams of shamanic tradition — she entered a lineage devoted to mapping the psyche and consciousness, restoring balance and coherence, and remembering humanity's place within the living Earth.
Elements of this work have also been shared in academic settings, including the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Graduate School of Social Work.
This was not about becoming more visible in the world. It was surrendering to the dharma before her, and becoming more capable. It was formation.
Her gifts have also been shaped by the inheritance carried through her African, Cherokee, Irish, and Scottish lineages — inheritances of resilience, relational intelligence, reverence for land, and a deep awe for life itself.
Over the past decade, Vonetta has guided more than 800 transformational retreats worldwide and over 15,000 hours of deep ceremonial guidance with thousands of individuals navigating trauma, identity shifts, and profound life transitions.

Our work together set into motion the vision for a re-imagined annual event that produced the single largest philanthropic donation in the organization's 85+ year history. I directly attribute my work with Vonetta for this particular success (and many others!) – she was the consistent driving force and encouragement to step into re-imagining work and the world through my heart and soul versus ego.
Over the course of several years, Vonetta guided me through my spiritual awakening. I began embodying my authenticity and walking my most aligned path. My inner world flourished as a result, and over time, my business and brand moved in a direction I never thought possible. I now feel I am living my dharma — work no longer feels like work to me because I'm responding to a greater calling. I wouldn't be where I am today without Vonetta. I'm forever grateful she came into my life when she did. She gave me the kick start that opened my eyes, the platform to leap from and the tools to keep living the life I want.
